Titans at Texans Preview and Lines

We have seen the best and the worst of the Tennessee Titans over the past two weekends, much to the frustration of their fans. Two weeks ago they would have felt on top of the world after a 34-10 victory over the New England Patriots, but that was quickly over with last weekend. They couldn't take advantage of their momentum boost and were beaten by the Indianapolis Colts 38-10. It must be frustrating being a Titans fan right now, they have the talent to succeed, but they are struggling to put it all together on the field.

The Houston Texans lead the AFC South with a 7-3 record coming into this game, and a win here would go a long way to booking their place in the playoffs. I don't think the Texans have been impressive by any stretch of the imagination this season, but they have found a way to win and get the job done, the sign of a good team. It hasn't been pretty at times, and their last two games were both won by just two points. You will very rarely get a fantastic performance from them, where they blow you away, but more often than not this season they have found a way to get the job done.

In weeks nine and ten, the Tennessee Titans limited the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots to a combined total of 24 points. That same defence then went and conceded 38 to the Indianapolis Colts last week, so you can see that consistency is a big issue for them here. If the Titans come out and play their best I think we have a great game on our hands, with a lot at stake, but if they come out and play like last week then they are in trouble.

The willingness to find a way to win is a real positive of the Houston Texans, and something I admire greatly. They will never blow you away with big plays, or make numerous highlight reels, but they are conservative, they stick to what they're good at and they get the job done. I don't think they are far superior to the Titans at all here, but their mentality and how they are playing right now means that they are the ones I am picking to win this game. I'm backing the Texans for another hard-fought, small margin victory.
