Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles Preview and Lines

The Super Bowl winning Philadelphia Eagles have stuttered so far during their title defence, but so has everyone else in the NFC East, leaving them just one win away from top spot in the division. Things have not been as simple as the Eagles would have hoped, and they are suffering from the fact that everyone gets up and wants to beat a reigning champion, making winning games a lot harder.

While it is a surprise to see the Eagles with a 4-4 record after eight games, it is probably a bigger surprise that the Cowboys are currently sat at 3-5. Dallas lost both before and after their bye week, and although the standings don’t show it, this is pretty close to a must-win game for them. While a loss wouldn’t put them out of contention, three losses in a row would leave them struggling and desperately out of form.

The Eagles come here on the back of their bye week and will be looking to continue where they left off before. They beat the Jacksonville Jaguars before the bye week and have a new receiving option in Golden Tate ahead of this game. They brought the veteran receiver in on trade deadline day, and he gives Carson Wentz someone else to throw the ball to. Tate should get plenty of opportunities with the Eagles going forward, and he looks like he could be a good fit for them.

Both teams will go into this one knowing the importance of it, but when it comes to playing important games, the Eagles are far better equipped than the Cowboys. Both teams have talented offensive threats, but neither is firing as they should be right now, so we could see a fairly low scoring game.

If there is one team I am expecting to really get going after their bye week it is the Philadelphia Eagles and with home field advantage in this game, they are the pick on Sunday night. The Eagles have a Super Bowl crown to defend, and getting to the playoffs is the absolute minimum for them this season. Golden Tate looks to be a shrewd move by them, and I can see him making a big impact early on, helping the Eagles pick up a win here.

They may not win this game by a huge margin, but my pick is for the Philadelphia Eagles to beat the Dallas Cowboys.
