Kansas City Chiefs at Patriots Preview

Bovada Casino
The Kansas City Chiefs have been nothing short of fantastic so far this season, as their perfect 5-0 record shows. The head into the game of the week on Sunday night facing their toughest task to date, a trip to New England to face the Patriots. The Pats still have the fear factor about them, although their 3-2 start to the season has so far failed to match that. This is a huge test for the Chiefs, but comparing the two teams on paper, they are clearly playing the better football right now and Bovada has all lines and props available now.

You would have got pretty long odds from your bookmaker on Patrick Mahomes out-throwing Tom Brady after the first five regular season games, but that is exactly what the youngster has done. With over 1500 yards thrown, 14 touchdowns and just two interceptions, Mahomes is quickly developing into an impressive leader for the Chiefs. Brady hasn’t been too bad himself, with over 1200 yards, 12 touchdowns, but he has thrown six interceptions, something the Chiefs will be looking to capitalise on.

The difference between these two so far has been that the supporting cast around Mahomes have really come to play at the start of the season, whereas those around Brady have struggled with the exception of James White. Rob Gronkowski has just one touchdown to his name, while Sony Michel is the leader in the backfield but only has 294 yards to his name on the floor.

Compare those stats to the big three in Kansas, Kareem Hunt, Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill and you can see how wide the gap is. All three have multiple touchdowns to their name, with Hill and Kelce running for over 400 yards and Hunt putting up just short of that number on the ground. This is a true three-pronged attack, and Patrick Mahomes is having a great time feeding them all.

This will be a huge test for the youngster, and he has to play the players in front of him and not the occasion. He certainly doesn’t need to see this as a battle against Tom Brady either, that won’t turn out well. If he focuses on the simply things and beating the Patriots defence then he can win this, and I am backing him to do so. I’m taking the youngster to lead the Chiefs into New England and come away with another win to keep their perfect record intact.
