Eagles Can Make Super Bowl with Low Scoring Victory over Vikings

The Philadelphia Eagles must have thought their Super Bowl chances had gone when Carson Wentz went off injured during the regular season. The young quarterback had been in great form, carrying the Eagles offence on his back. He is out for the season, but Nick Foles has come in to give the Eagles hope of still making the Super Bowl. The Minnesota Vikings scored in the final seconds to record a dramatic win over the New Orleans Saints last weekend, they have to be better defensively against the Eagles, but have hope of reaching the Super Bowl.

What the Eagles have done well since the loss of Carson Wentz is play to their strengths. They have a very solid defence, and they have relied upon them a little more to come up big, something they have done. They have also kept their offensive play as simple as possible, Foles knows the playbook well, but he hasn't needed to take risks, instead they have focused on small gains and simple plays. It is this tactical approach that has kept them in the hunt, and making the Super Bowl without their number one quarterback would be a huge achievement should they make it.

In a wild game last weekend in Minnesota, the Vikings found themselves 11 seconds from elimination until Stefon Diggs found the end zone to give them a dramatic victory. That game had everything, but it also showed that the Vikings have their flaws. They allowed the Saints back into the game and completely lost all momentum they had in the third quarter. If you are going to win a Super Bowl, you have to be fully engaged in the game for 60 minutes, you can't take a minute off like the Vikings did last weekend. That has to be taken out of their game, and mentally they have already been through a lot, so who knows what mindset they will have before this one.

Should the Eagles make the Super Bowl then they deserve a lot of credit for overcoming the adversity of losing Carson Wentz. They have reacted extremely well and I am backing them to come out on top this weekend, and make the Super Bowl. The Vikings are beatable, and the simple game that the Eagles have adopted can serve them well against the Vikings, and give them a ticket to the greatest game on earth.
